Biodegradable Hydropower Lubricant Development Supported by New DOE Phase II Award

Tetramer is excited to announce the receipt of its SBIR Phase II Award from the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) which will fund biodegradable hydropower lubricant development.

Lubricants used in and around waterways pose the risk of spills and leaks causing wide ranging environmental effects. To combat this risk, Tetramer is developing biodegradable hydropower turbine oil sourced from renewable materials, which will provide both cost and performance benefits to end users.

Beyond hydropower, the development of long-life, high-performance bio-based and biodegradable lubricants has the potential to impact multiple applications and commercial uses such as: marine oils & greases, wind power, and transformer oils.
